The day to day business of UTT`s team of ladies is still organizing special permits and escorts for the many international hauliers who brave the Spanish and Portuguese countryside to deliver or collect abnormal loads in Spain and Portugal. Without doubt Spanish permits for heavier loads are still a slow and complicated/frustrating process.
However we at UTT are also successful at "back-loading" these international vehicles to make their round trips a profitable experience. Boats, machinery, earth-moving equipment are all part and parcel of the daily business.
UTT has been fortunate to become virtually exclusive carrier for the large tunnelling machines which are playing havoc with the Barcelona traffic as they excavate tunnels for the new Linea 9 metro line which will also connect to the airport in due course. Our client for these ongoing operations is the joint venture UTE and consists of moving approximately 20 heavy, wide and voluminous loads up to 150 tons and 9 meters wide. Of course these moves are within the Barcelona city limits and take place with 3 or 4 loads per night, as far as acceptable by the city police. The night photos are not good, so we show ome of the loading/handling operations.
On the other hand, UTT has been working hand in hand with fellow member Albacor Shipping, Montreal on movement and installation back-up for Flight simulators in Spain and Holland (in collaboration with Van der Vlist), as well as for other operators. Even an Antonov 124 may be involved for an urgent shipment like one we received in Mallorca for a local flight training school. |
